ARPC Welcomes Senators Hoeven and Boozman for Producer Roundtable at NDSU
Fargo, North Dakota — October 6, 2026 — The Agricultural Risk Policy Center (ARPC) at North Dakota State University welcomed U.S. Senator John Hoeven and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman for a producer roundtable with farmers, commodity groups, and agricultural researchers.
The discussion focused on advances in the farm bill, changes to the farm safety net, and the challenges facing North Dakota farmers and ranchers. The senators outlined efforts to implement recent safety net enhancements, advance a new farm bill, and secure additional assistance for agricultural producers.
ARPC’s research helped put the policy discussion in context. In its October 6 news release, Hoeven’s office cited the center’s projection that changes to federal crop insurance would provide more than $91 million in additional premium support for North Dakota producers in 2026.
Participants also discussed ARPC’s role as a resource for understanding agricultural policy and informing decisions that affect farms and rural communities. The roundtable connected the center’s analysis with the questions farmers and ranchers are asking and provided an opportunity to hear directly from the agricultural community about its needs and priorities.
