NDSU Agricultural Risk Policy Center Partners with Acres.com to Advance Farmland Research

The Agricultural Risk Policy Center (ARPC) at North Dakota State University has entered into a Data Licensing Agreement with Acres.com, the complete land intelligence platform, to support a new research collaboration. Through this partnership, ARPC will gain access to Acres’ parcel-level farmland data to advance analysis on land values and long-run farmland market trends. The agreement enables ARPC researchers to conduct in-depth empirical work on the capitalization of Federal Farm programs into agricultural Land Value, using verified, transaction-based parcel-level land information provided by Acres under the agreement.

The collaboration will directly support ARPC’s work on agricultural policy analysis and aims to provide insights that will benefit policymakers and producers.

“We’re excited about this collaboration with NDSU ARPC,” said Aaron Shew, Vice President of Product and Data Science at Acres.com. “Providing their team with access to comprehensive, transaction-level land data will strengthen their research capacity and support timely, evidence-based insights for farmers, policymakers, and the broader agricultural community.”

ARPC Director Dr. Sandro Steinbach emphasized the value of the partnership for advancing the Center’s applied research mission. “This agreement provides our team with high-quality data that enhance our ability to evaluate farmland markets and understand how federal farm programs influence land values,” Steinbach said. “It strengthens our efforts to deliver research that speaks directly to producers and informs policy discussions at the national level.” “The Acres dataset improves the precision of our land market analysis and expands the scope of the questions we can answer,” added Francis Tsiboe, Program Leader and Research Economist at ARPC.”

Under the agreement, authorized ARPC researchers will securely access Acres’ licensed data to advance empirical modeling for the project. Initial outputs and findings are expected early next year, including ARPC economic briefs, conference presentations, and journal articles, as research continues.
